Update March 24

We have just received word that Leo’s temporary trach is now in, and although he is groggy, he is mouthing words and seems in higher spirits today. Everyone please keep praying, and being supportive. He still needs a lot of encouragement!! :)

Update March 23

Leo’s sister, Erin, has just given us an update. Leo is NOT off of his breathing apparatus. He did get taken off of it, but quickly had to be put back on. His diaphragm is damaged, and he cannot easily breathe on his own. They are going to go in and do a tracheotomy soon, so that the breathing apparatus will not have to go through Leo’s mouth to get to his throat. It will just be connected to his throat, enabling him to at least mouth words, and it will be much more comfortable for him. A tracheotomy will be the next step, but it depends on how the tracheotomy goes. Hopefully it will strengthen him enough to be taken off of the apparatus, but we won’t know the results for a while. Also, Leo has been sick with an extremely high fever. The doctors were able to get it down some, but he still isn’t feeling well. All of this is a minor setback, since we all thought he was breathing fine on his own. So, everyone please, please, please keep praying for Leo, and keep encouraging him and his family through emails. If you keep scrolling down, you will see a link so that you can email Leo directly. There is also an address so that you can send him letters of encouragement. Erin would also like to thank everyone for all their prayers and support, and asks everyone to keep praying as much as possible.
